The image was taken with my new Pentax MZ-S with f:3.5-4.5/24-90 mm IF & AL Pentax lens. The available light was quite poor so I had to use the built-in flash. The exposure - with Fujichrome Sensia 100 - was the slowest speed I thought I could handle safely, 1/60th of a second and full aperture f:4.5. Because of the poor power of the flash, the available light has some effect, the lighting is not as hard as one might expect with direct flash. I also dialed in -0.5 stops of exposure compensation to eliminate the overexposure often connected with direct flash and causing more harshness. The background is a wall so far behind that it is rendered totally black. This makes the face really stand out.
The quality of the 24-90 Pentax lens at full aperture is very, very good indeed. I like this image.
