Pirkko´s rose

This is a recent image taken with Leica M6 and Visoflex II mirror box and the excellent Elmar 3.5/65 mm macro lens and two extension tubes, on tripod of course. Lighting was simple sunlight from back - nothing else because I just wanted the sun to shine through the petals. The exposure was 1/30 sec at f:11 and I bracketed in 1/2 stop increments in both directions. Film was Fujichrome Sensia 100.

The reason for this image was that one very good friend of mine - a lady (no, not that good friend) was in a hospital for a few days and I went to see her and bought a rose for her. The hospital, however, did not allow flowers to be brought in so I had to take it home. Then I took some shots of the rose, had the best slide scanned and professionally printed so that she could see that I really had the flower for her. When I presented it - properly framed - to her afterwards she did really like it.
