University Street

Like the name of the street tells us, Tartu, Estonia is a university town and has developed quite rapidly after the fall of the Soviet Union and regaining of the indepence of Estonia. Still there is a lot to do, the process is slow and examples of Soviet decay and neglect can be seen, especially in the side streets. This example, however, is rigth in the middle of town, very near the University.

The image was taken with my newish Voitgländer Bessa-R with f:2.5/75 mm Color-Heliar lens. The available light was quite poor so I had to use faster film, which in this case was Fujifilm Superia 400 - scanned by the lab during printing. The exposure was the slowest speed I thought I could handle safely, 1/60th of a second and aperture f:4 - I think, because I did not take notes. The image is somewhat cropped and brightness and colour balance adjusted in Photoshop. The quality - not easy to assess on computer screen - of the Voigländer lens is very good indeed.
