Castle Street

Tartu, Estonia is a very old town, almost 1000 years old. It has been heavily fortified not much of those fortifications are left, only huge earth banks can be seen. The fortress stood on the town´s central hill on which later a huge cathedral stood, the ruins of which still stand, part of it reconstructed and now museum. This is a view from the hill towards the town below, also near the University.

The image was taken with my newish Voitgländer Bessa-R with f:2.5/75 mm Color-Heliar lens. The available light on a cloudy December day was quite weak so I had to use faster film, which in this case was Fujifilm Superia 400 - scanned by the lab during printing. The exposure was the slowest speed I thought I could handle safely, 1/60th of a second and aperture f:5.6 - I think, because I did not take notes. The image is somewhat cropped and brightness and colour balance adjusted in Photoshop.
